Dietary Relief Worker - PRN

PRN, Part Time, Afternoon/Evening, Food Service Department

General Purpose

Assists the Food Service Director to insure the successful operation of the Food Service Department by performing designated food service tasks.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from High School or the G.E.D. Equivalent. Certification as a Food Service Aide is preferred. Ability to speak, write, and understand English.


Experience:

The incumbent should have sufficient inservice and orientation regarding Food Service Policies and Procedures prior to starting to work independently.


Job Knowledge:

Ability to communicate with persons of various backgrounds in a tactful, courteous manner. Must have comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of hospital food service and be able to incorporate such knowledge in all conditions varying from the usual to the extraordinary. Subject to day, evening, weekend and holiday work.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to assist in the preparation of patient, employee and guest meals and cleanup thereafter.

  • Ability to serve on trayline and set up cold food for P.M. trayline.

  • Ability to perform various clerical duties including maintaining current kardex, tallying evening meal census and menu changes.

  • Ability to assist in cleaning work areas.

  • Ability to handle food and equipment in a safe and sanitary manner following all regulatory codes.

  • Ability to attend and participate in all service training programs organized and conducted by the Department or the hospital.

  • Ability to assist in cleaning patient trays and carts following meal service.

  • Ability to fill vending machine assuring adequate choices are available.

  • Ability to adhere to established Personnel Policies and Procedures.
