Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Department, Full Time, Day Shift
General Purpose
Assists the Pharmacy Director in the smooth, efficient operation of the Pharmacy Department by performing administrative and technical duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
Qualifications
Education: A Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician, preferred.
Experience: Basic administrative knowledge is needed. Previous experience working in a Pharmacy Department is preferred, but not required.
Skills: Ability to communicate with persons of various backgrounds in a tactful, courteous manner. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
Essential Job Functions
Schedule appointments, type letters, and screen salesmen.
Fill medications for in-patients, after verification by the Pharmacist. The Technician will not compound medications.
Assist in pricing of medications, updating computer information, inventory control, and ordering.
Assist with checking, recording, and returning outdated medication from all patient care areas.
Maintain files of confidential information, forms, and correspondence.
Make recommendations to the Director of Pharmacy that will result in the overall improvement of the department as well as the institution.
Maintain proper telephone etiquette at all times and in all situations.
Check in medication orders, and maintain records of P.O.’s and invoices.
Fill patient medication bins, to be checked by the Pharmacist before distribution to the floor.
Adhere to established Hospital Policies and Procedures.
