ER Tech - Emergency Dept.

Full Time, Emergency Dept.

General Purpose

Assist the emergency room nurse and provider in providing high quality and compassionate care. The position supports nursing staff and providers by helping ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment while promoting dignity and respect for all patients.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.  Current CNA and/or EMT certification in good standing with the state of Kansas.  Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.


Experience

None required.

  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable with a genuine desire to care for others.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team

  • Good communication and observation skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding task such as lifting and repositioning.

Essential Job Functions

Job Functions:

  • Provide great patient care

  • Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, and treatments plans.

  • Recording vitals signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.

  • Assist in transferring patients to either the floor or another hospital.  This includes arranging transportation, calling other hospitals for a room assignment, printing necessary paperwork, etc.

  • Assist in gathering equipment needed for procedures done it the ED

  • Clean rooms and register patients as requested by nursing staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance.

  • Standing or walking for long periods of time, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.

  • Ability to push and pull patients and equipment.

  • Stamina and endurance to handle fast paced, high stress environment

  • Ability to respond quickly in an emergency, running, positions patients, performing CPR, etc.
