Infection Prevention RN

Part Time

General Purpose

The Infection Prevention Nurse is responsible for preventing, identifying, and controlling infection within the healthcare setting, implementing and monitoring infection policies, collecting and analyzing data, and developing updated policies. This includes staff education and ensuring compliance with infection control standards. This position plays a key role in protecting our patients, staff, and community.

Qualifications

Education

Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Kansas in good standing.  Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.  Certified in Infection Control (CIC) recommended but not required.


Experience

Two years of nursing experience.


Skills

  • Ability to interpret and analyze and interpret lab, diagnostic tests, numerical information, and written information.

  • Knowledge of disease process and pathology and their signs and symptoms

  • Knowledge of infectious agent surveillance systems, therapeutic and adverse effects of pharmacological agents and medical treatments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively written and orally an maintain effective working relationships.

Essential Job Functions

  • Data Analysis: collect and review lab results and patient records to spot infection trends or potential areas of concern.

  • Develop Policy and Procedures: designing policies and procedures for hand hygiene, sterilization of medical equipment, and isolation procedures.

  • Education and Training: conduct training or education to staff on proper infection prevention and use of PPE.  Educating public health professional on infection prevention protocols to facilitate emergency preparedness.

  • Facility monitoring: routine checks to ensure standards are being followed and guidelines met per CDC.
